I worry that this part of the conference call was just an example of Sankar's usual tendency for hyperbole. 

I don't know about Electrovaya's chemistry or patent position however this interview of QuantumScape's CEO with Sandy Munro gives a fascinating account of the QS technology. It seems like the development of separator technology to prevent dendrite formation is the key to solid-state.
