Electrovaya has a problem with their battery life. The life cycle is so long 9000 cycles that they can sell a battery to a customer only once. Say you charge an Electrovaya battery once a day, then at 9000 cycles that is 24 years! It is hard to have repeat customers when the battery lasts 24 years. Electrovaya must continually come up with new products to supply new markets to stay in business. They seem to know this as they have a large R&D budget. The window of opportunity for the solid state cell is now!!
I think they are working on a solid state cell very hard. The first of the year Electrovaya purchased the cell manufacturing machines from a defunct battery manufacturer in Michigan. They posted jobs for engineers to design and build battery cell manufacturing. I am sure they are modifying that equipment to make their new solid state cell. This is all being done under their R&D budget. If you look at last quarters financials you can see their largest expense is R&D. I would guess a pilot line is coming into being. I guess when they get all the bugs worked out, they (Electrovaya) will announce a new product. After all you can only sell a 24 year battery once....
