Steve was repeatedly asked about the timing of financials and, on several occasions, referred to end of April. I would have expected him to have some sense that the financials were likely to be delayed, given the reasons he provided for missing the deadline.

Why did he not foreshadow at least the potential for delay and avoid (or at least soften) the inevitable negative impact on both the SP and the trust of CBDT investors? I think investors/the market would have been much more understanding/forgiving about the delay had Steve signalled that potential challenges were looming rather than leaving us feeling blindsided by an after hours NR on the Friday deadline.
