Gazprom May Halt Gas Exports To Hungary In January - Report

BUDAPEST --Hungary's natural gas imports from Russia may come to a halt in January unless Russia and Ukraine resolve their continuing spat, national daily Nepszabadsag quoted Russian gas group OAO Gazprom's (GASP.RS) spokesman as saying Friday.

Some 80% of Hungary's natural gas exports come from Russia via Ukraine.

"Hungary could remain without gas unless Russia manages to resolve its dispute with Ukraine," Gazprom's Sergej Kupriyanov told the paper.

The two countries are in a standoff regarding pricing.

In 2006, Hungary saw a big drop in its Russian gas imports when Moscow turned off the tap in the midst of a similar standoff with Ukraine.
