IRVING, Texas, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Breitling Oil and Gas Corporation, an independent exploration and production company based in Irving, Texas, will lead shale gas workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa on March 8.

The all-day workshop entitled "What the frack is going on? The controversial fracking method explained," will be delivered by Breitling's chief executive officer Chris Faulkner and will begin at 8:45am at Convention Dynamics, Isando, Johannesburg. For individuals not able to register and attend the workshop, Mr. Faulkner will participate in a free and open-to-the-public forum alongside industry experts including Professor Maarten De Wit from the Africa Earth Observatory Network at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University; Professor Terry Engelder from Penn State University; Saliem Fakir, Head of the Living Planet Unit at World Wildlife Fund; and Jonathan Deal, Chairperson of the Treasure the Karoo Action Group.

Mr. Faulkner's workshop will provide the attendees with the ability to gain a detailed understanding of the fracking process, learn about the chemicals that are used, understand any environmental concerns and how they can they be alleviated, how to conduct a cost/benefit analysis for fracking, evaluate whether wastewater treatment technology can overcome environmental concerns and learn what lessons can be learnt from fracking operations abroad?

Chris Faulkner, Breitling Oil and Gas CEO, said, "I am extremely honored to be asked to lead the Shale Gas workshop on hydraulic fracturing." Faulkner added, "South Africa is among the growing number of countries that want to unlock previously inaccessible natural gas reserves trapped in shale deep underground and I am going to do my part to show how it can be done safely and productively."
