This is off-topic in that this post is not directly related to Falcon, but it does address a potential breakthrough method and technology a company (Chimera Energy) is exploring in the recover of shale oil and natural gas without the use of water. Based on their website information, they are currently testing and obtaining 3rd-party certification of the technology.

This type of technology could certainly minimize the concerns of water usage in all areas, but in particular the Karoo.

In a shareholder's annual meeting several years ago, I remember Robert Macaulay making a statement that they very much stay abreast of the industry's latest technologies related to the recovery of shale oil and natural gas.

"Chimera Energy Corp has just licensed a breakthrough method and technology to extract shale oil without the use of water. This method is designed to neutralize dangers to groundwater and other potentially toxic byproducts."
