Member Inquiries, Feedback and Testimonials
Hello DISCHINO.
Thank you for your message and for your questions regarding our rating system. As you state in your last paragraph, yes indeed our system has a notification tool that tracks irregular rating behavior of ALL members within AGORACOM.
To give you a basic idea of how this notifications system works, a message will be generated if any member gives the same star rating X amount of times.
Our admins will then review the activities, and correct if necessary. This hinders the appearance of "dormant" accounts, which members might use to give "1" star or "5" star ratings to a group of other members.
As you recall, July and August was quite the edgy period of time for the EDIG HUB. As tensions climbed, members took corners as discussion of fact retreated as emotions arised.
Consequently, as more members did not see eye to eye, most members of the EDIG HUB noticed a decrease in their rating, with some complaining that they have lost their rank.
We always ask members to respond and behave accordingly in such situations however sometimes things get out of control and the results are seen in your inquiry today.
We will take your suggestion to tweaking our ratings and ranks system in to consideration. As a matter of fact, we are exploring the possibility of a weighted average system for our ratings system, in an effort to improve user interactivity.
Thank you again for your inquiry and for your contributions within the AGORACOM Community.
Regards,
AGORACOM
