Thank you for your participation and contributions within the AGORACOM Community.
If you are trying to paste a chart from a website which requires you to login, then it is likely that your personal information will be copied and pasted along with the clipboard. Due to stockcharts.com chart format, users are not able to copy and paste a chart from that website to our Discussion forums message body.
An alternative would be to take a screensnap of the chart you would like to share with others, and then post it to our forums. The process might be a little lengthy but I suspect it may be worth your while:
Step 1: Taking a screensnap of your chart:
Go to stockcharts.com and login into your profile. Find the chart you wish to copy over to our board. Once you are at that screen, please hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This will take a picture of what you see on your computer monitor.
Step 2: Cropping an Image using Paint.
Paint comes built in to Windows Operating system. To open Paint, please click start then All programs. Paint is located in the Accessories menu. Click the Paint Icon to start Paint.
Once Paint is open simply paste your screensnap in the new window. To paste your screensnap hit the CTRL and V buttons on your keyboard simultaneously.
You will now see the screensnap you have taken in your Paint window. You can now proceed to crop your image, so that only the desired portion of your screensnap displays. The crop tool can be found on the top left hand corner of your screen.
The crop icon looks as such:
Please click on this icon twice to activate the cropping tool in paint.
You may now proceed to crop your image. Hover your mouse over the portion of the image you would like to crop. When you have reached an acceptable point, please press and hold down the left button on your mouse. Now move your mouse around making sure that the crop box is covering the area you would like to crop. When you have expanded the crop box over the entire chart or area of your screensnap you would like to crop, let go of the left mouse button. A light blue box will appear around the area you have just cropped. Please view the example below as a visual aid:
Step 3. Saving your cropped image to your clipboard.
To save your cropped image, hover your mouse cursor over the cropped area. Right click with your mouse to open a menu. In that menu please select “Copy to”. A windows explorer window will pop up. Please give your file a name and then click save. (note: the default directory your images edited using paint are stored is C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\My Documents\My Pictures; please proceed to My Pictures to retrieve your cropped image).
If cropping was completed successfully, your cropped image will look as such:
Step 4. Hosting your image.
Unfortunately due to our websites traffic, we are not in a position to open up additional ports to our server so our users can upload images into a Message posted on AGORACOM. All images must be stored or hosted on an external website and in subsequence embedded into your message on AGORACOM.
Web users have a plethora of options however target="_blank">www.imageshack.us to upload your newly cropped image from your local hard drive to the net.
Step 5. Embedding your image to a post.
Once your cropped image has been uploaded to imageshack, please login to AGORACOM and proceed to type your new message. In the new message window, please look for the icon. This will open a new window where you can enter the embed code you received from imageshack.
Under the “Image URL” field, please enter the embed code you received from mediafire.com; this link is located on imageshacks’s upload confirmation screen.
Enter the link, then click update. Please preview or submit your message.
To view the newly cropped and embedded image in this example message please proceed to http://agoracom.com/ir/ForumLeaders/...
I do understand that the process might be a little lengthy, if however you do wish to insert your charts from another website without divulging your personal information , this would be the easiest way to publish your content.
Please let me know if you require any further specific assistance and I would be happy to walk you through any difficulties which may arise.
Thanks again for your participation and for your contributions within the AGORACOM Community.
Regards,
AGORACOM
