2011 Options Expiry Calendar
The gold options expiry date is set very late at the end of this year, almost at the end of December. Normally you would have options expiry on the last Tuesday of the month, but apparently, according to the CME options expiry calendar, options cease trade on the 28th, and notices are sent on the 29th.
This is important as the close of the month will affect the gold price on the monthly chart and give us our outlook in technical terms. That leaves us with one trading day prior to settlement for futures contracts. If the COMEX actually settles on Tuesday like any other month, then it will make for an interesting week in gold.
I don't really expect much out of the markets as we go into the holiday season.
