Canadian budgets are still in surplus.
Yesterday's was very small but it is partly due to paying back about ten billion $ worth of our debt. Yes we have been reducing our debt for the last decade.
Real estate is also ok. There are manufacturing regions that see depressed prices but that is made up by a still hot market in the west, so on average for anyone outside of the country, we are stable.
Our banks are also ok by comparison to US ones. CIBC seems to be in the most shaky but again nothing to sweat over. Canadian public has done less saving lately but perhaps yesterday's budget with a tax free registered savings plan should encourage folks to get back on track.
In summary, any negative comments you hear take them with a grain of salt. As on the Chitboard, things are taken out of context and often stated as if it is the general situation. Example, loss of jobs in southern Ontario (my region ).
So just worry about ECU catching up to silver price instead of canadian economy and the looney.
I am not an economic or financial analyst, just a small investor with his own biased opinions. Cheers.
