The PM stocks vs unallocated PM (pool) accounts are very different scenarios.

As long as the stock markets are operating (and who knows?), your own broker is still operating (and again, who knows?) and there are buyers for ECU (and in a runup to $10, there probably would be), ECU holdings should be saleable.

I own a fair bit of ECU, and am taking my chances with the stock market and my broker. I consider it a calculated risk.

Liquidating your pool account holdings? If you accept cash, at this point you can probably still liquidate. For example, I believe that the Kitco pool accounts are still operating on both buy and sell sides. Things haven't gotten nearly as crazy as they are likely to get.
