Today's ECU metal grades

posted on Jul 02, 2008 04:26PM

Today's news release tabulated metal content for 11 calcite-pyrite veins. These 11 veins are bunched into 3 closely packed zones. Below I have calculated the depth, width, metal value and Ag equiv for each of these 3 zones. For metal values I used the current prices of Au = $943.1, Ag = $18.28, Pb = $0.7657, Zn = $0.8316, and Cu = $4.1046.

Zone 1

From 708.15 to 711.25m below level 18

Zone Width = 3.1m

Metal Value = $54.51/tonne

Ag Equiv = 2.982 oz/tonne

Zone 2

From 730.90 to 735.85m below level 18

Zone Width = 4.95m

Metal Value = $101.01/tonne

Ag Equiv = 5.526oz/tonne

Zone 3

From 774.07 to 780.17m below level 18

Zone Width = 6.1m

Metal Value = $143.19/tonne

Ag Equiv = 7.833 oz/tonne

Since ECU's latest NI43-101 included bulk mining zones worth over $25/tonne, zones 2 and 3 should easilly be profitable. Zone 1 may have borderline value. Today's news release stated that true widths are 35% of core length. I do not know if ECU already adjused the data to take this into account, or if the widths need to be reduced by a factor of 0.35. If I have time tomorow, I will call, the company, or if any other posters get a call in, you might want to ask this question.

I agree with Mexico Mike's assessment on LeMet tonight that the market does not understand what this news release means. Not only does it mean that the whole site might be overtop of a massive sulfide deposit, it also means that in all likelyhood, the Terneras, New Chicago, San Mateo, San Juana and the other 30 odd discovered veins and zones extend another 600 meters below their previously discovered limits. In other words, take the January 2008 NI43-101 and double the measured, indicated, inferred and potential ounces. So we are now at a 2 billion ounce silver equivalent potential. This is not even considering that the gold grades and vein widths have been increasing at depth, and the conditions of the massive sulfides are still a complete unknown.

Can't wait for the lab results on the sulfide veins. Regards.
