Message: Those Ads

A company called South Florida Coins has been taking out full-page ads every few days in the Palm Beach Post advertising that they'll buy anything precious for the 'best prices you'll ever get for your PMs that you don't need or use anymore, etc.' - coins, jewelry, old silver and gold do-dads, even old gold crowns and dental ware, etc. This huge in-your-face ad has been appearing so often, that I'm getting suspicious.

These ads are very expensive and can run into the thousands of dollars. These guys are either raking in the dough or else some entity is bankrolling them for other purposes regardless of the cost. And South Florida Coins is not the only one. Today's Post had two half-page ads from other companies hyping the same 'buy your old gold and silver, etc.'

When I was in Orlando over the weekend, I noticed what appeared to be the same highly illustrated full-page ad In the Orlando paper as the one here from South Florida Coins. Didn't think to note the company name there.

Seems as if the government and the cartel have decided to pull bullion off the market for whatever reason, probably to keep people from using their fiat to buy gold and silver, thereby goosing the prices and awareness at the expense of the dollar.

If they can do that, they could certainly encourage and possibly even create companies to go after the hundreds or thousands of tonnes of 'loose' gold and silver tucked away in the drawers and cabinets of large numbers of people who are easily drawn in by the promise of huge prices for 'unwanted' or 'unused' gold and silver. Especially attractive now that hard times are here for so many. Some people would yell 'confiscation' if the government tried it, but react with glee if some company does it.

Seems to me it would be quite easy to do, especially if the government guaranteed to buy all this collected stuff from the companies at a very hefty premium. And an easy way to build some reserves.
