Message: BLACK MONDAY COMING UP????

Somchai, I somehow get the sense that the DOW has seen the worst of this intense sell off over the past few weeks and although it could revisit the recent lows, I don't see any short term wash outs coming. On Friday the DOW futures were indicating the likelihood of a historic sell off when it exceeded the -550 limit. Surprisingly, the DOW opened only marginally lower and then proceeded to move sideways throughout the day before plunging in the last few minutes.

IMO, all that liquidity that the FED is injecting into the system is finally filtering its way to general equities and will help support the DOW in the coming weeks. The DOW is already dropped to 1998 levels and if you factor in the devaluation of the dollar over the same 10 year time frame that would devalue it by another 15%. The FED has already revealed their hand and will use every weapon in their arsenal to fight deflation so it's not surprising that the FED futures are pricing a 100% rate cut this week as indicated below. This could be the swan song for the dollar rally and the beginning of gold's accent toward $1000.

I am expecting the upcoming week to be gold positive.

Fed futures point to more rate cuts

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Interest-rate futures traders on Friday fully priced in odds that the Federal Reserve will lower its target borrowing rate by next week's meeting, after data about slowing growth in South Korea and England spooked investors and caused overseas stock markets and U.S. equity futures to plunge. The price of the November fed funds futures contract rose to 99.08, indicating a more than 100% chance that the U.S. central bank will cut its target rate by a half of a percentage point to 1% by its next meeting, scheduled for Oct. 28 - 29. December futures show a 99% chance of a further cut in that month, taking the funds rate to 0.75%, which would be the lowest on record.
