Message: Re: Peter Monk Helping Gold Price? (from GATA)

Well. the great bear operator has now turned orator speaking for gold? Does this mean that Paulson is bullish on gold too? Both of these men were the biggest bear operators of the 90's and into the very early part of the following decade. It's more like Monk might be setting up the community for another attack by the bankers, the way I see it. The writer of the article speaks of Barrick's successful hedging program that resulted in their being able to make acquistions that made them the biggest gold miner. Give me a break. Not only were they a puppet for the cartel, they got paid to suppress gold's price that ended in 2001 by ruining many gold mining companies and the ones that were still standing and crippled with excellent reserves they bought for peanuts plus the chips they took off the table from their successful bear raid.

Monk speaks of China who might trade dollars for gold. China's smart, they have already been doing this on the gold's weakness all the way down to the October lows. So, now, Monk is trying to out think the Chinese on what they will do next? I don't think so.

Then Monk says that investing in efficient mines is the way to go within the current environment of increasing mining cost. Well, how about the cost to the Western Shoshone Indians in the Cortez Hills that Barrick's lawyers just got the Reno courts to kick off their cermonial sacred mountain? Barrick's argument was basically, that the local economy needed help. Oh, is Barrick going to give the local communities some of their projected gold profits? How about the Shoshone? What's Barrick going to give them besides rear-ending them? How would you like someone coming to your town or where you conduct your expression of religion or where you pay homage to preceding generations and massively disturbing what mother nature had spent years in creating that is so much a part of your ancient culture? If I owned Barrick shares and knew the way they treated the local indians, I couldn't sleep at night but I guess, profits are more important to some people. Who knows what Barrick may have been involved in Tanzania for sure. I just remember hearing reports from more indigenous people accusing them of astrocities. And Barrick's experiences with indigenous folks in South American well, it's not much to write home about.

Monk says that it might be stupid to hedge gold production during his described period ahead so full of positives for the metal. Did he say that Barrick covered all their hedges? Of course not, the contra side of the outstanding gold hedges are looking for newly issued Barrick stock in the future at the detriment of shareholders to cancel those contracts with the arrival of much higher gold prices. I don't believe those contracts will ever be closed out in the market place.

Has Munk severed his relationship with the cabal? I don't think so. Even though his comments in the article appear bullish, I read them as a forewarning of more downside manipulation. I hope I'm wrong.
