Message: Hints on Gold Warriors

Perhaps without having to go out and buy the book, you can give us a hint.

It has been a while since I wrote a precise, so I will probably get it wrong.

Gold Warriors, written by Sterling & Peggy Seagrave. 328 pages, including an extensive bibliography and annotations.

The book starts out documenting the Japanese occupation (and the nice things they did) and their aspirations of building an empire in the WHOLE of SE Asia from about 1890 onwards. Describes the systematic and thorough looting (books, manuscripts, art, PMs, drug trade, extortion, etc) of that area for 50 years prior to WW2.

It then, through interviews with eye witnesses, describes the Golden Lily war loot amassed by the Japanese, and much of it hidden in approx 175 sites in the Phillipines. Hiding the gold makes fascinating reading. Talks about the involvemnt of banks, corporations, and individuals involved (Marcos was a nice man, and Nixon wasn't far behind - but you know that - he took the U.S. off the gold standard). So many names, shouldn't only mention 2. Doesn't conclude how many of these sites have yet to be found.

There are chapters on related subjects - descriptions of the gold sites, and how their locations were kept secret; the shenanigans of Marcos and his greed; the way the US did nothing for POWs and others mistreated by the Japanese; 57 bonds, The M fund; Washington's involvent, including every president since the War (now to be joined by Obama), etc, etc.

There are 2 CD mentioned many times in the book with additional material, including maps and photos, photos of ducuments, etc., (which wasn' t included or offered by Chapter's).

Well worth the $20-odd purchase price. IMHO, makes you a lot more cynical about the market we are in.
