I speak from personal experience.
The cases in Canada are mild because very likely those people may have been vaccinated. I am no medical person but I was told that the vaccine does not prevent one getting flu but reduces the chance and if one gets it it does not become as severe as it otherwise would have been, even if the strain is different. Flu vaccines are typically composites made from more than one strain.
Early vaccines were experimental and many people contracted flu from them, that is history, that lesson was learned and applied.
Note, initially tabacco was said to be safe, now global warming is said to be a hoax and there are so called scientists who still say so, not the majority.
Finally I base my opinion not only on myself but on the millions of Canadians that have been vaccinated and found it helpful medically and economically.
