Yea Man, the beat does go on, And On.
I call myself apolitical. Am political in every sense of the word but do not support any particular party nor vote along party lines. I vote on basis of issues. To that end I have written to probably every major party representative in my riding over the last few years.

Relevant here - I am against anyone so called 'Borrowing' my shares for any nefarious purposes almost as much as against naked shorting.
Again I use the car as an example. Against anyone borrowing my car for whatever purpose even though they replace the gas and park it back in it's original spot.
I have mentioned the subject but the common excuse is:

1. We are not in power, so write to the government.
2. Governing party - The public does not consider it a major or a problem issue.
3. Governing party - We are aware but we have more pressing issues before us.
Etc.etc. That is provided they bother to answer.

We are missing an opportunity to bring the issue of nefarious deeds before the public. Opportunity comes from the mess that the politicians allowed to happen with the global economy. The public is probably as open to the idea now as ever if only they were made conscious of the goings on. The media are mostly to blame for not informing the public. Of cource the media are mostly owned by those that want the public to be ignorant. A vicious circle.
