Since there is so much analyzing of the price of ECU, how about a little analyzing about when, or if, a major is going to bid for the company. We're not the only ones watching the affairs of ECU and the grinding upwards of the price. For every dollar ECU advances from here, some major is going to have to cough up an extra 330 million bucks or so, if it wants the company. That means, for example, a three dollar increase from here will cost roughly an extra billion bucks for a senior. So when would it make a move? When the stock is 5, 10, 15 and a zillion dollars more?
What extra information does a senior need before making a grab? Or will ECU make the first move by joining up with a major? Possible questions for the meeting Thursday: Do they expect a bid, when, or do they plan to join a senior in a partnership? Any time table? Or do they intend to go it alone come h'll or highwater?
The shareholder Rights Plan, designed to protect shareholder interest, is subject to ratification at Thursday's meeting, so perhaps there will be a good discussion re the pros and cons of such a plan.
Cannot attend this year. Hopefully, next year.
