A question arose this evening:
Is the Bank of Canada a private (foreign) bank like the USA FED ?

BofC is neither foreign nor private. It is wholly owned by the government of Canada.
However it operates as if a private institution imo.

Perfect example for my argument: The bank governor when being replaced was not promoted from within as expected by many in canadian business but a fellow from Goldman Sachs was brought in and therefore all that US baggage came with him.

I put my prejudice up forward for all to see.
