Elliot Spitzer was, so to speak, caught with his hand in the cookie jar. I have been involved in efforts to earn an income when competitors felt threatened, in their minds. These people motivated by greed know no limitations as far as they would go to destroy perceived harm.

Mr. Spitzer was a threat to the Wall Street power base as he probed into financial dealings. I don't feel it is unreasonable to consider that Mr. Spitzer's fall from grace was a planned effort to defame him.
