I also live in Ontario but the health care structure is more or less the same throughout Canada. Few regional discrepancies, that is part of it's advantages.
Next, we do not have tens of millions without such care as in the States. Better to have all covered even if not to a full degree then have a substantial minority without.
Yes there are cases of extreme wait times BUT they are exceptions. Exceptions prevail in all walks of life and it is unreasonable to use them as examples because they misrepresent.
Finally, it is your doctor who decides as to whether you get immediate treatment or delayed. He is the one to best know and judge whether you need it or the public purse can afford.
How would you want your money to be wasted, by government bureaucracy or private profits? I think more is wasted/diverted by the private sector.
The exceptions often quoted are people who are delayed but have money to go to the States to have it done earlier. No mention is of people in the States that are suffering because they can not afford treatment. These differences do not cancel each other. I prefer by a large margin the Canadian system.
