Seems the sociopaths Sinclair refers to are still hanging in there. Very depressing indeed. However, since we all "know one" we do know that it is just a matter of a little more time before they not only carry on disregarding society in general ...but one another as well. They do try hard to convince us all at times that they are "one of us" and can be very successful at it until the chips are down and they are caught in bed with their best friend's wife... kind of like Paulson flashing his cheap Casio watch the other day ( which Jim thinks was borrowed from his teeanage offspring) whilst being outraged at suggestions of any hint of impropriety on his part. Jim Sinclair does have a nice style and incredible powers of observation, doesn't he?
Then we have Bernanke informing us all that inflation is not an increase in money supply but rather an increase in the cost of purchases. What's this??? Mark Carney, former Goldman Sachs whiz kid, Governor of the Bank of Canada has officially procalimed "the recession is over". It is all an endless bout of verbal diarhea and one can understand Lawnbowler's malaise. Lawnbowler, may I suggest that you lift yourself out of your gloom by edifying your touchy/feeley side...proving to yourself that you are "one of us" by way of acknowledging your regard for others? Go out to a nice little restaurant that serves a side order of cleavage and well rounded bottoms. I say all this with tongue in cheek (pardon the pun Pic). Tip generously. It will make you feel wonderful and fulfill your need to have regard for other human beings. However, you are permitted to disregard the lousy meal that cost too much.
I get so confused sometimes. Was Adam Smith a sociopath? I guess not but he did know that one had better please his customers, not out of the milk of human kindness, but only because he/she wanted to keep the old paycheque rollng in...otherwise a competitor would take him/her out. There really is no free meal (or eye candy for that matter)...which brings me back to the sociopaths at Goldman because they seem to be getting just that..a free meal ...err...rather an average of $370,000 bonus per employee thanks to the largess of those toiling to please their customers. ThaT;S A LOT OF FREE MEALS FOLKS! Nothing like the pursuit of self- interest that has no moderating hand of competition. Of course that breaks Adam Smith's law. How can that be? It is unnatural not to have competition and one can not flaunt the law of nature...can one (or thousands)? How does that enhance the wealth of the nation I ask? Mark Carney must know. What about Thomas Jefferson who said:
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who do not".
I leave you all in a confused state, but not to be confused wth, Dennis "Gasbag" Gartman.
