I'm still around too, Edgy, watching this kaleidoscope of a financial market. Every time you look it appears differently. I guess the Chinese and others pulling their gold out of London is equivalent to a team walking off the court with the ball when they realize the refs have been rigging the game. All the spectators betting on the game head for the exits too calling their bookies.
Gold is surely reacting to something and with those big banks still heavily short (I'm assuming), I'm waiting to see what they have up their sleeves. If they're hedged, it's probably an easy out. If not, I hate to think what they and the fed and the treasury will do.
