Message: O.T. For your consideration over the weekend!

This is definitely my last post on the subject as some board members have decided that personal viewpoints rather than quality of argument are a solid basis for reducing a members personal rating. I will publicly state that I have always recommended posts or rated members based on the quality of their posting not their position in the argument. There are a number of 5 star poster in my opinion, many of whom I disagree with on many subjects. Powerful lesson as I always felt this board was a great place for debate regarding almost any issues which impacts on the economy... which means nearly everything... unfortunately it soils my experience somewhat. That's the last I will ever say on that particular topic as it's juvenile and I prefer to stay above it where I can.

My issue is with what we 'don't know' about our polluting more that what we do. Sorry but collectively human knowledge is nothing compared with the complexity of our earth- so if we see warning signs, I'd say it was in our interest to proceed with caution. Anyone own an aquarium? I do and I know how important it is to keep the chemical balance of the water 'just right' (lost my two oldest fish recently when my waters acidity went up sharply when my kid put an object in the tank that had been cleaned with a household cleaning solution). So the following article articulates another reason to be concerned.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8411135.stm

How many board members are scientists who really understand the impact of industrial pollution? I for one am not, but I have seen third world factories like the ones we used to have in North America and Europe and have seen the impact on the local environment, lakes and rives. I believe that cleaner energy has many benefits beyond global warming... like weaning us all off our dependance on oil. Anyone out there against that? If so, please let me know (via my private mailbox) what source of energy will replace oil? The answer is there currently isn't one. There is no global disagreement about that one. Nothing comes close. So lets use what's left wisely shall we...

For anyone I have upset with my observations I apologize however I will note that I have not started this debate on the site, I have simply responded to a post which I felt misrepresented the issue and provided a balanced view. Issue dropped.
