TORONTO, ONTARIO, Apr. 26, 2010 (Marketwire) -- ECU Silver Mining Inc. (TSX:ECU), which holds a mineral resources of over 6 million gold equivalent ounces, is pleased to announce three new appointments to its management and operations team. Mr. Ralph Stricklen has joined the company as Vice President, Operations, Mr. Jorge Lujan Acuna as Mine Manager and Mr. Mark Butler has joined as Investor Relations.
Mr. Ralph Stricklen has over 40 years experience and has extensive background in the mining industry. He has previously worked for Inco Limited, Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting and Southern Peru Copper Corporation. Mr. Stricklen's expertise will focus on managing ECU's mining and milling operations, as well as manage the development and expansion of future production facilities.
Mr. Jorge Lujan Acuna has been appointed Mine Manager and is responsible for the overall day to day operations of the Velardena Mines. Mr. Lujan has over 35 years of experience and brings his extensive milling and underground silver-gold vein mining experience from such well known mining districts as La Colorada, Tayoltita, Guanajuato and Parral.
Mr. Mark Butler will be responsible for ECU's investor relations and communications. He comes with a strong equity and marketing background. He has previously worked with an International Financial Services firm and a TSX public listed company where his responsibilities were focused on marketing and investor relations.
