Fascinating reading. It would seem to me, as a layman, that the best proof that the Fed doesn't answer to the government is the fact that Ron Paul has to raise a bill, go through Congress and Obama etc. to be given the opportunity to audit the Fed and its gold inventory. If the government was truly in control surely the people's representatives would be able to walk into the vaults tomorrow morning with calculators in hand. This whole situation is right out of Alice in Wonderland. It is analogous to my bank telling me I have to wait until next year to audit the contents of my safety deposit box with the added bit of information that they might have used the securities therein for the bank's business purposes. Unreal!
