Just a quick comment: The article above is not a scientific expose, but some kind of non-scientific misunderstanding of what is normal. Weather changes. Its a fact. Ice ages, tropical warming, its all happened before. The pictures of where the moon rises in one of the ref’d articles is just due to ignorant interpretation of what he is observing.
The sun and moon appear to rise and set at different latitudes because the earth is round. To get an idea what is normal consider that in the far north the sun does not set at all in the Summer but it does rise and fall. On one particular late summer day it rises and sets in nearly the same position. But if one measures the aspect of the sun at noon, it will be exactly where it should have been AND be observationally reassuring. The rising and setting of the sun is confusing to some. What is not confusing is to look at the angle of the sun at mid day.
I retired from the space industry. Each satellite we built has on board, sensors and software that tells the space vehicle exactly where it is (within required tolerances) in relation to the earth or to non-earth coordinates. These are VERY accurate and I can assure you that the orbits of the earth around the sun and the moon in relation to the earth are EXACTLY as would have been predicted 100 years ago and each has been stable for thousands of years. The orbit of the earth has not changed from its predicted path in any measurable frame of reference. On sophisticated satellites we track not only the other planets for their gravitational effect on satellite trajectories, but such miniscule effects as the moons of other planets, the effect of solar radiation, the acceleration of the SV due to infra-red radiation from heated areas of the vehicle or due to the reflected radiation off the earth while passing over the day side. In short, if what these articles indicate were true, (ehich it is certainly NOT) the effects on your TV satellite, your Satellite radio, GPS, communication satellites, etc would be hosed and no one could cover it up. Your sun dial woudn't work either.
Note: Polar flips, are not a mass tipping of the earth in any external frame of reference, but a shift in the orientation of magnetic North relative to rotational North (which is in itself a misnomer). The north star is still where expected. There IS a recurring migration of "north" and the earth's magnetic intensity.
