Hey pic,
I wish I could trade places with you in Houston since we are experiencing a cold snap here in Toronto with temperatures expected to reach -25C (-13F) tonight. My windows are icing up and I'm sure there will be many broken pipes and water mains throughout the city tonight. This is nothing new to the guys up in Ottawa and Montreal, but it's dam cold even for us.
Like you, I am a firm believer in natural cycles and fractal patterns that seem to comprise our daily lives and the order of things in the universe. Margaret Thatcher also seemed to be keenly aware of this when she made her "it's just time" comment to Armstrong when foreshadowing the defeat of her Conservative party in the upcoming election.
I had some time to analyze the long term ECU chart and noticed a similar pattern forming that is distinctly similar to that of late 2005. If you look at the chart below you will see how the breakout in November 2010 breached the 3.5 year downtrend line as it did back in September of 2005. Back then, the share price moved sideways for over three months before taking off. We are now two months into this recent breakout so I would expect the share price to continue consolidating for a least a few more weeks, maybe months, but hopefully the former. No guarantees of course, but an interesting observation anyway.
