I understand where Soul is coming from...the Egyptian people are to be commended for their exemplary courage and bravery...may God bless them....they will need Him. They are the vanguard of "the next wave", which most unfortunately begins a journey of misery and suffering for many impoverished people globally.
Egypt has seen a population growth of nearly 300% since 1960, from over 20 million to over 80 million people. Only 2% of its land mass is productive and it averages only 2 inches of rain/year. ...more in some areas and less in others. Irrigation has growing problems. Its oil production has decreased substantially and it is now an oil and food importing nation instead of an oil exporting one...and oil prices ain't going down. So, its ability to feed and energize itself is becoming more compromised by the day. Mubarak's estimated $70 billion fortune taken from the people could do wonders right now. what will thenext regime do and who will they be? They cannot solve the problems so they must have iron fisted control.
Food importing costs (wheat for ex.) are increasing rapidly and inflation is rampant. Water is becoming a problem... all this on top of a continuing population growth that is becoming prohibitive. This will only continue, excaserbating the dilema. The situation is poltitcally explosive no matter what the Governmant in power...for they are doomed as the hungry and thristy and impoverished millions increase.
This is the future of the MiddleEast. Survival will become war.
There are just too many mouths to feed.
The peaceful revolt will mutate by way of necessity and survival to become violence...most, most unfortunately.
Somehow, the JPMorgues of the world will make money on it all.
