I once asked my broker (TD) if they loaned out my shares to shorts. The answer without hesitation was: yes, every share, in every account.

Even my RSP?...Yes.

Even my Pension account?...Yes.

Even my cash, margin, and TFSA?...Yes.

Even if I have sell orders open?...Yes.

Can I stop you from doing that?...No.

I'm not going to take posession of the certs, so no way I know of to stop the dirtbags otherwise.

The game is rigged, just like any 2-bit casino.
