Message: ECU Stock Ownership

I have been assuming that, although Mr. Altmann apparently (from annual reports) does not beneficially own or control more than 42,500 ECU shares, he must have been granted a substantial number of option shares. I just combed through a number of SEDAR documents and information on the company Web site hoping to determine what that number is. I may have not looked in the right place but it appears that the company has never disclosed the number of option shares granted to individual employees. The gross numbers and dates are available but no names have been attached to the numbers. My experience with information from major companies is that they disclose executive compensation in great detail, including the option information and sums involved other than straight salary.

So, I don't know what Mr. Altmann's financial exposure to the stock price might be. The total options outstanding are, I believe, 15,470,000 with due dates extending from March 1, 2011 to October 22, 2014. Options that are coming due this year include 1.9 million shares at $1.00 on March 1, 600,000 at $1.59 on September 23 and 2 million at $3.00 on December 21.

Given the significant number of total options granted to senior personnel one would think that the share price would be of great interest to them. The same can be said for Mr. Roy who gains or losed some $27K for each cent that the share price moves.

I believe there are some individuals following this board who know Mr. Roy personally. I wonder why someone who knows him can't talk to him about the share price activity, the concerns about ECU expressed on this board etc. The coversation could be preceded by disclosing to him that his answers to questions could receive wide circulation but surely that shouldn't affect the quality of the information and insights he is willing to disclose.

For those given to nostalgia I did run across the information that the low share price in 2006 was $0.44. The high for that year was $3.65. Oh for the good old days!
