Golden Minerals is a junior silver producer with a strong growth profile, listed on both the NYSE Amex and TSX.
I made a typo in my post, and it is the oxide ore that may have metallurgical issues associated with copper. Sulphides are run through a flotation cell process that is not adverserly affected by copper. Trace copper in the concentrate is not a problem but some smelters may charge a penalty if the copper percentage is too high. In the oxides, the ore is run through an acid leaching circuit and sulphuric acid binds to copper, reducing the effectiveness of the solution to liberate gold and silver. A primary circuit to separate out the copper will solve that problem.
We have already had an update on operations that indicated the company is working to deal with the copper, so I would imagine we can look forward to an improvement in the recovery efficiency for the next quarterly report.
cheers!
