I just spoke with a VP from AUM that I have known for a few years and got some candid answers to a few questions I have. I am very happy with what I have heard. AUM is going to follow up on the work that ECU has done, and carry the ball to build a much bigger mine, and they plan to get busy as soon as the deal is approved by shareholders. I invested in ECU because I have always believed that deposit is going to support a huge mine, and AUM expects they can build a brand new mill and processing plant with a much larger capacity to increase production. They also plan to continue drilling for new resources. They are aware of the issues with GOG and I think they will make it very difficult for GOG to rock the boat or create any distractions. AUM management have strong connections to build and operate large projects, and the funding in place to support development, plus raise additional cash as needed.
In short, based on my conversation, Velardena is not going to be a back seat forgotten asset to the Newco, and I expect the company to move forward with greater urgency to realize some of that potential we have been waiting for.
I am not one of those that is quick to criticize existing ECU management. I understand that the company was in a difficult position to move ahead and a positive transaction was necessary to make that happen. I think they have delivered this for shareholders by arranging this deal.
cheers!
