Hey there DCFM,
No dispute with most of your remarks at all. I agree that the situation today is not 'normal' and that there are so many 'unknowns' out there which could adversely affect us. However it was that way before and after the merger.
I also agree that approaching the merger with trepidation is fine, and I personally am very happy that hard questions are being asked. Thus far the tough questions have resulted in answers and personal research which makes the deal seem more and more positive to me.
What I was specifically complaining about was the over-the-top, assumption filled, poorly calculated spewing of misinformation & anger that anyone who had read the announcement could have answered themselves. I mean come on' we're not all professional investors, but to assume a 1/20th as much stock which is worth 20x more is somehow a 'rip off' is just silly. Or to assume that we will not be rewarded by drill results now... OK if we were bought by a 50 billion dollar company you'd be spot on, but we merged with another small/middle sized company. Massive results in the news will still have a big, big impact, especially now that we might be able to do something about it. Anyone, even a basic investor, understands how stock splits / reverse splits, mergers etc. work
Plus, the calling out of board members for potentially being positive on the move due to some self-interest & relationship with the board is just not on without some kind of proof.
I just think the reaction was very unlike this board. I was thinking about AUM guys coming to check us out and seeing some of those posts might just decide to run in the other direction... do some of us really want that?? Not me. I think we need to all do our DD, but hey... positivity is always the best way to unexpected change. If the change starts to show reason to be suspicious - fair enough, but whats the point of a knee jerk angry rejection of change without all the facts? I'd like our new co-investors in newco to have a positive image of ECu from the get-go.
