I don't know why I finally checked this out but I remembered that leases on stocks were brought up awhile ago. So while checking my account I asked the question on that. It seems that is only allowed on margin accounts. In no way can they do this from a cash position if that's the way you are set up. Just a morning tidbit. I believe on margin accounts they can lease up to 70% of your portfolio.
