I agree in the most part, but my parents endured the second world war and the message I got from them was also loud and clear. (Thank goodness I did not heed their message).

The message:

"The reason we work as hard as we do, is so that you children will not have to".

Boy, was that the wrong message, but where I grew up, in the birthplace of the Industrial ,Revolution (The Black Country), that message was prevelant throughout all the households. Yes, they were impoverished households, and the actions and beliefs of the parents was definitely well-meant, but definitely not in the best interests of their children.

That thinking, that message, fostered imo, one of the worst generations of society; The baby boomers (The "Me" generation, as I like to call them.
