Patience.

The powers that be thwart any atempt to remain above $1800 until they get tired.

And they only serve the Chinese and Indians to aquire more gold at lower prices.

The short of it is = They can shoot at their own feet as often as they like but sooner or later they will cry out OUCH. It will only hurt more the longer they do it and the Chinese are laughing.
