The 1.8 million shares short does not sound like much, but when converted into ECU equivalent shares at the 20 to 1 conversion rate, this is 36 million shares short. Since Golden had almost no short shares pre merger, this tells me the short on ECU was about 36 million shares or over 10% of the float. The 266,000 average daily trading volumn is also very high for a company with only 30 million shares or so outstanding and may be a trading shell game to beat the naked short reporting requirements. I own 2 other stocks that have less trading volumn despite 5 times as many shares outstanding.
