It depends what you call safety, or safer.
I consider some silver and gold Stocks to be better by far so in my opinion easier to sleep with.
I only say about stocks, keep a larger portion of any one share registered in your name because when the crunch comes, due to shorting or bankruptcies, your shares may not be yours to have.

Bullion is safer if you are personally in possession, the profits are likely to be earlier but much less. So it depends on lower profits vs assurance of possession as to determining what is easier to sleep with.
