'A friend's daughter called me the other day about whether she should go to law school," Matarajan said. "If you have a passion for the law, then go, but don't do it because your family wants you to go or you can't think of anything else to do.'
He added: 'You have to have the passion with the way things are now. Otherwise, choose something else.'"
As a lawyer of 37 years (class of '76), and one that didn't really want to be one in the first place, the above is almost verbatim the advice I give when asked by college kids (mostly my friends kids). And that's good advice regardless of whether the profession is then "hot" or not.
