I have been trying to have shares in my TFSA account directly registered with Computershare. Scotia iTrade said that you cannot directly register shares in a registered account only cash and margin accounts.
I spoke to Computershare who, as you know, is the transfer agent for AUM to see what they said. I told them that it was a registered account and they said that all Scotia iTrade needs is the complete name of the account, exact number of shares, ID# CUSIP of company and Computer share’s account number 50173 for direct electronic registration.
I phoned Scotia iTrade back and again they said that I cannot directly register shares in a registered account only cash and margin accounts. They said that the my account is insured for up to a million dollars - "don't worry" they said.
Is it true you cannot directly register shares in a registered TFSA account?
Thank you,
Jim
