Seems the pointy heads have finally decided, after a few decades, that perhaps 'experienced miners' should be an integral component of the BOD of Barrick (and other major miners)... rather than lawyers, MBA's, friends and former politicians snorting up unseemly amounts of cash for doing sweet p-ss all. The 'movement' has officially started and changes will be happening faster than a melting butter tart in the sweaty hands of Senator? Mike Duffy. (for you Americans, we Canadians have our own Senate scandals).
Off hand, ladies and gentlemen, if ever there was a positive indicator for gold and PM stocks, this would be one. Looks like the big, corrupt, easy money has been made by the cartel and they are now slithering into the lifeboats before all the women and children in order to be far ahead of the surviors on the best beach. On the other hand, now that most mining engineers and geologists are more independent and happily toiling for juniors,(or retired) ... or just not available because they entered the MBA program rather than the earth sciences over the last 20 years... where will all the required expertise suddenly come from? Ahh, demand and supply: music to our withered ears. Think gold/silver. Ever noticed how old some of your friendly pharmacists were or are after the supply crunch there over the last 20 years?
Whether or not the well heeled old boys now leaving the good ship 'Goldenpop' have been thanked profusely for doing their 'job' well we will never know. I do doubt that they are not jockeying for a position on the BOD of the listing battleship 'Barrick'.
