I visited my local "hairgrooming" salon yesterday and received a huge eye opener.
My local "shearer" is a middle-aged Oriental lady.
As usual we got to talking about recent events and she mentioned the Provincial Election Results, so I told her that I hoped she wasn't one of those who voted NDP. Her smile told me everything and when I explained to her about what the NDP is all about, especially here in Canada, she stared at me in shock and then poured out everything.
"My husband and I had no idea who else to vote for. We wanted change and just voted. There should be somewhere we can go to learn about politics so that we can make an "educated" decision instead of just choosing someone at random."
She had no idea of the mess in Ontario left by "Buffalo Bob". She had no idea about the mess left behind in B.C. and Saskatchewan. She never related the Provincial NDP to Jack Leyton and after I'd finished explaining these facts to her, she profoundly told me that she didn't think she was qualified to vote, as she didn't know enough about the parties or what they stood for etc.
At that time, I decided to change the subject as she had opened a real can of worms in my eyes.
"We live in interesting times"
Good Luck to all!
