Free Enterprise fell a couple of days ago, imo.
Alberta, my adopted home province has elected for the first time in over forty years, a Socialist Provincial Government.
I've spent the last couple of days trying to get my head around this and I keep wondering "Why?"
No clear identifiable reasons come to the surface, but my mind has conjoured up several reasons about what could be happening and I just hope I'm wrong with some of them.
I'm not a fan of any government, but even I am just a voice in the wilderness when it comes to doing battle against the inevitable, so here is my take on what could have happened.
The old government fell into the trap of making expensive promises when every part of the world was experiencing cutbacks. In order to do this, they were going to raise taxes. Not a good platform in todays marketplace.
Increased taxes would mean more dilution of spending by the young generation, who already pay more than they should. Outcome - A PROTEST VOTE without understanding what it would mean to the bottom line. I predict that Alberta will now see a Provincial Sales Tax before too long. Also, the Socialists will have access to a $17+ billion Heritage fund that the conservatives were able to amass from the oil and gas revenues in this province.
One of the other questions I keep asking myself is as follows:
Is there a Western World master plan to wipe out The Baby Boomers? After all, once "we" retire, we become a burden (consumers, not producers). In fact we will be the biggest burden that our world has ever had to face (growing population and a burden to food producing via consumption).
Am I paranoid or am I right? Time will tell.
"We live in interesting times"
Good Luck to all!
