To be fair, I checked the DOW at the close of each Friday and at the end of each month.

This is what I found

DOW was up 12 Fridays, down 16 Fridays, closed for 2 Fridays and opened on one of the Mondays in plus territory. (total fluctuation just on Fridays - down 707.91 nic following Mondays)

At the end of each month (nic July), the DOW finished up 5 out of 6 in negative territory.

(Total fluctuation as of the last day in 6 months - down 821.10.
