China and Russia signed more than 30 trade deals that encompass the financial, energy, high-tech and other sectors, following a meeting between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Beijing on Thursday.
One of the deals signed on Thursday was between Russian oil giant Rosneft and China Petrochemical Corp (Sinopec). The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate in gas and petrochemical projects in East Siberia, according to a statement Rosneft sent to the Global Times on Thursday.
"The agreement will boost the cooperation of Rosneft and Sinopec in the development of the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskiy hydrocarbon cluster's resource base," the statement said. The MOU "envisages" pre-feasibility and concept design with respect to a potential gas and petrochemical joint venture to produce refined products.
A MOU was also signed recently between the central banks of China and Russia to further deepen financial cooperation, the People's Bank of China (PBC), China's central bank, said in a statement Thursday night.
The PBC said the MOU with its Russian counterpart, the Central Bank of Russia, would boost cooperation in areas of shared interest, including promoting local-currency settlements, bank card issuance, access to local-currency bond markets and credit ratings.??
