Could you explain why economical oil shale extraction tech. will set a price ceiling on oil.

The current variable cost of extraction in the middle east is close to 1 or 2 dollars per barrel.



Shifting to shale extraction, all else equal, would in my opinion raise the floor price of oil, with a similar markup as now, from extracted barrels to market price.
