More Disruptions At Great Panther's Guanajuato Mine Complex
Monday March 10, 2014 10:52 AM
Great Panther Silver Ltd. (TSX:GPR)(NYSE AMEX:GPL) reports that mining, plant and administration services are shut down at Guanajuato until disruptions at the mine are resolved. The disruptions stem from approximately 60 people who gained unauthorized entry to the main administration building and plant facility at the complex and continue to illegally occupy the facilities, the company says. "It appears that a few members of the mining cooperative who sold the mine to Great Panther in 2005, when they were facing bankruptcy, are behind this illegal occupation of our facilities,β says Robert Archer, president and chief executive officer of Great Panther. βIt is unknown at this time whether these members of the cooperative have been involved with recent activities of illegal miners.β Archer adds that all employees and contractors are safe, accounted for and now offsite. The company says Mexican authorities have been notified but no action has been taken yet.
