If you note, the significant cost savings will come from the battery (ies).  If your recall, Bernard has stated that the auto / batter manufactors want silicon at cost parity to existing materials being replaced.  I think this is all part of the equation....making these batteries with longer range, easier and quicker to charge, and keeping costs low as possible.
